Joe Rogan’s Martial Arts Background
Joe Rogan is a popular podcaster, comedian, and UFC commentator, who has a good amount of martial arts experience.
He took up Karate at 14, and Taekwondo one year later, quickly becoming a black belt
and when he was 19, won the US Open Championship taekwondo tournament as a lightweight.
For 4 years, Joe was the massachusetts full contact state champion and eventually became a taekwondo instructor.
But after a 2-1 amateur kickboxing record, he retired at 21 to avoid more injuries.
Many years later, after watching Royce Gracie at UFC 2, Joe became interested in Jiu-Jitsu, beginning his training in 1996 under Carlson Gracie.
Years later in 2005, Joe was actually challenged to a cagefight by Wesley Snipes.
But the fight never materialized.
Joe has continued his training got his first black belt in Jiu-jitsu by Eddie Bravo in 2012, and subsequently received his black belt in Gi jiu-jitsu from Jean Jaques Machado.
